Namaste

I'm at our Costa Rica mountain retreat center finishing a chapter titled Just As It Is. We've just completed a beautiful seven-day satsang intensive; the last participant leaves today. The title of this chapter turned out to be the main theme throughout the whole week. Our so-called 'spiritual lives' have been completely demystified and rendered utterly simple by the energy field of this Shift. We went through a lot of Kleenix as each of us described how the ramifications of this Shift were now affecting our lives. What could possibly be more simple than:

Instead of looking all over the place for God, we are the Source in appearance. Instead of identifying with the frequency of the mind that judges every situation, we now get to identify with the Presence of the Witness, who observes in choiceless awareness.

Instead of trying to change every situation and resisting what the mind doesn't agree with, we relax into a non-doing attitude and watch in amazement as Life just happens perfectly, all by Itself, without needing our help!

Imagine that! The key to real happiness in life and the end of all spiritual seeking is contained in this phrase:

Embrace life just as it is.

Sounds simple, doesn't it. Even from a purely intellectual understanding it makes sense if you are caught up in the swept away whitewaters of this Shift. Over the last two years I've seen several thousand heads nodding in agreement, smiles of relief and surrender on their faces, when I explain this basic message.

But wait a minute! It may be simple to understand-but is it actually that easy to do the new dance of 'yes' to life's daily contractions as well as to its freedom? This proved to be an interesting week of observing the many varieties of engaging life just as it is.

One of the participants had participated in several previous weekend intensives, and is definitely feeling the impact of the Shift. His life has mellowed out considerably as a result, and he comes to Satsang just for the pure joy of it. However, here in Costa Rica I was able to observe him more closely under all circumstances as we spend about 16 hours a day hanging out as a group. What I saw under these conditions was astounding. Although he seemed to be flowing with Life in major events, he behaved like a total control freak in response to life's mini-happenings at least 50 times a day.

Whenever there was an opportunity for a preference, his mind demanded and acted out that preference in a controlled and doer-like fashion. If the music seemed too loud to him he'd have it turned down; he protested when others sat in 'his spot'; he made sure to have his massage first. He was late for every event. An attitude of passive-aggressive manipulation seemed to permeate his attempts to 'have it his way.'

Now why wasn't I surprised when this person complained one night at Satsang that he was bored and falling asleep? Even though this had never happened before, it made perfect sense now. Another factor also pertinent here is that although a fit and flexible athlete, his back had suddenly gone out in a debilitating way just before this Shift began for him.

What's the connection? As it happens, I'm currently presenting several workshops with Dr. John Veltheim, an Australian who developed BodyTalk, a process for healing all ailments known to the human body in a seemingly miraculous manner. I am so enthusiastic about his methodology because he is using the very same inner wisdom of Source in appearance to heal the physical and emotional body that I am using to heal the apparent separation between man's mind and the Oneness.

Here is the amazing part and the connection I refer to. He proves that there is almost always a link between the particular ailment and a major contraction of resistance still locked into bodily memory. Once the BodyTalk process releases that trauma of resistance to whatever happened, the body spontaneously heals itself. My friend's back going south when he was headed north could be a symptom of his resistance to 'life-just as it is' that I observed in his reactions to the small stuff (and most of life, as we know, is composed of just the small stuff). I'll admit that this is a case of the pot calling the kettle black, as I can still see myself as I was before my Shift, the epitome of anti-life.

Even if you think you get 'it'; even though you know for sure you are being swept away by the force of the Shift; even if it seems like you can now embrace life's tragedies; You may amaze yourself when you dance 'yes' to the contraction of losing your job, and then argue with the waitress at Denny's to seat you in the section that is roped off from service. You just managed to dance a jig of 'yes' as your mate left you in the lurch, and then bristled with indignation and a vocal complaint at the little old lady standing in the 'ten items or less' line at the supermarket with at least 18 items in her basket. You get the picture!

Shifting from the third to the fourth dimension means that You are temporarily limited to a certain mind/body organism with a unique set of DNA and predispositions, and that's how it is. You watch life unfold in front of you moment by moment. Instead of manipulating and attempting to control the countless possible preferences you have in any given day, you simply allow life to happen-just as it is!

I can assure you that trying to control life is a surefire way to guarantee that you will indeed suffer and be bored. Embracing life-just as it is is the only recipe for true and lasting happiness that I know of.

If we are inquiring into the secret formula that absolutely assures happiness on earth, I can see many hands waving in the air. We're touching on people's core driving force and fantasy. You might want this formula to include a loving relationship with your soul mate, good health, beauty, success, the finer things in life that financial abundance can provide, etc. Not a chance! I went through all of these fantasies and more before my Shift and they never delivered happiness for more than ten minutes at a time.

I never felt loving gratitude for any of the happenings in my life before the Shift. Now every day I feel deep loving gratefulness that is not connected to any condition or event. Why so? The Presence of my Witness is the power that now makes gratitude possible as life unfolds-just as it is. Surely my friend in the intensive doesn't consider himself a control freak. He probably feels that he is dancing just as fast as he can to life, and that's probably true. It just doesn't occur to him yet that he still spends the greater part of the day resisting life's teeny little contractions when life doesn't match his preferences. Of course he can see big events as opportunities to embrace a crisis. He just doesn't get it yet that an integral part of his deliverance includes embracing the mini contractions.

When will he get it? When the time is ripe for that mango to fall off the tree all by Itself!

All my love,
